Since 2017 when our practice was established, founding attorneys Jo Theisen and Andrea Amicangelo have been helping clients with a wide range of legal issues. Andrea Amicangelo

Attorney
Andrea Amicangelo is a founding partner of Amicangelo & Theisen, LLC, focusing on immigration, family, and bankruptcy law. She earned her J.D., cum laude, from Syracuse University College of Law, where she received the C.A.L.I. Award in Federal Criminal Law and served as an editor of the Syracuse Law and Technology Journal. Andrea is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania. She holds a B.A. from the University of Vermont and a Graduate Certificate in Women’s Studies from the University of South Carolina. In addition to her legal work, Andrea teaches Immigration Law at Gannon University and serves on several local nonprofit boards.

Jo Theisen

Attorney
Jo Theisen is a founding partner of Amicangelo & Theisen, LLC, focusing on family and immigration law. A trained family law mediator and collaborative law practitioner, she is dedicated to guiding clients through legal challenges with clarity and compassion. Jo earned her J.D. from Case Western Reserve University School of Law and holds a B.A., summa cum laude, in Dance and World Languages and Cultures from Mercyhurst University. She is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania and actively serves on several arts and community boards.

Alexandria M. Iwanenko

Attorney
Alexandria Iwanenko focuses her practice on immigration law, including naturalization, green card, asylum, and special immigrant juvenile matters. She earned her J.D., summa cum laude, from Duquesne University School of Law and is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania. Alexandria also holds a B.A., summa cum laude, from Canisius College in International Relations, Spanish, and Latin American Studies. A granddaughter of immigrants, she brings empathy and cultural understanding to her work and is active on several nonprofit boards and committees.

Maria Borst

Attorney
Maria earned her Juris Doctor degree from Case Western, Maria was awarded the C.A.L. Award for the highest grade in Real Estate Transactions and Finance. During her undergraduate education, as well as during law school, Maria interned with our firm, focusing on both family law and immigration law. Maria was also an intern in the Case Western Kramer Law Clinic, where she provided pro bono services for immigration clients in the Cleveland area.
