Emma Abers

A young woman with curly hair, wearing a black top, seated against a light-colored background, smiling and resting her arms on her knees.

Emma graduated summa cum laude from Mercyhurst University with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology. At Mercyhurst, Emma also minored in criminal justice. Throughout her years at Mercyhurst, Emma was accepted into the criminal justice honor society, Alpha Phi Sigma, and the psychology honor society, Psi Chi. In her final year at Mercyhurst, Emma served as Vice President of Psi Chi and Co-President of the Criminal Justice Association. While at Mercyhurst, Emma also worked as a tutor helping fellow students understand concepts in the courses of Positive Psychology and Abnormal Psychology.

Emma is working at Amicangelo & Theisen as a paralegal to gain real world experience while she studies for the LSAT and prepares her law school applications. Next fall, Emma hopes to begin law school. In her future career, Emma hopes to use her background in psychology and understanding of human behavior to empathize with her clients and provide them thorough representation. Emma has always been drawn to the area of study where psychology and the criminal justice system intersect. With this interest, Emma would like to better understand the mental health needs of incarcerated individuals and be involved in making changes that bring mental health resources and programs to jails and prisons.

In her free time, Emma enjoys activities that feed and improve her own mental health such as spending quality time with friends and family and being outside in nature. Emma also enjoys learning and is excited to continue to learn more about the areas of immigration law and family law from the experienced attorneys at Amicangelo & Theisen throughout her time at the practice.
